Learn how to make tasty and crispy chakli or chakkuli easily. Chakli or chakkuli is a popular deep fried snacks from Karnataka which will be in spiral shape. This authentic tasty chakli or chakkuli recipe is from my mother or from my grand mother.

Chakkuli, that is how chakli is familiar in Karnataka, is prepared on festivals and special occasions. There are so many varietis of chaklis are in practice through out Karnataka. This chakkuli recipe is an instant easy way to make chaklis yet it is the tastiest chakli or chakkuli. This is an easy way for those busy mothers or when you are in hurry. Try this super light, crispy and tasty chakkulis for this Ganesha festival. I have also shared one more very very tasty chakli recipe along with this. It is a bit difficult but those are the ultimate chaklis.

Easy chakli or chakkuli recipe

Preparation time: 40 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 15

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup rice flour
  2. 1/4 cup urad dal
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  4. Salt as per your taste
  5. 1 tsp heaped thick ghee or butter
  6. Oil to deep fry

Instructions for making easy chakli or chakkuli:

  1. To begin with take the urad dal in a pressure cooker, rinse it and add in 3 times the water.rice for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe
  2. Pressure cook the urad dal until mushy. Keep it aside, let it cool down.urad dal for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe
  3. Now parallely take the rice flour in a thick bottomed pan and fry it for 2 - 3 minutes under medium flame. Do not over fry it. This step is optional and is done to remove the raw smell of the rice and doing so will give good taste to the chaklis.frying rice for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe
  4. Transfer the roasted rice flour into a wide bowl. Add in crushed cumin seeds, ghee (or butter) and salt. Rub and mix it well.frying urad dal for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe
  5. Wait until cooked urad dal is warm. Once it is warm grind it into a fine paste using a mixer grinder or blender.flour, cumin and butter for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe
  6. Add the ground urad dal paste into the bowl, which has flour.grinding coconut for easy chakli or instant chakkuli recipe

  8. Now make use of the chakli mould and press the chaklis on a plastic sheet.Pressing the chakli or chakkuli
  9. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Take the pressed chaklis in hand and carefully drop it into the hot oil.frying easy chakli or chakkulis
  10. Fry under medium flame until the bubbles are stopped and you get a lovely golden colour. Finish making all the chaklis and enjoy.fried chakli or chakkulis
