Sihi avalakki or avalakki panchakajjaya recipe explained with step by step pictures. This is one very easy and sweet recipe using beaten rice. This sihi avalakki or sweet poha is generally distributed in temples. But preparing sihi avalakki or sweet poha is very easy. This sihi avalakki or avalakki panchakajjaya is prepared during Deepavali (Diwali) across various parts of Karnataka.

Sihi avalakki recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 0 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 cups thin beaten rice or avalakki or poha
  2. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  3. 1/4 cup powdered jaggery
  4. 1/2 tsp ghee
  5. A pinch of cardamom powder
  6. A big pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions for making sihi avalakki :

  1. Take grated coconut in a wide plate or bowl.grated coconut for sihi avalakki
  2. Add in powdered jaggery. You can adjust the jaggery quantity as per your sweet level.jaggery for sihi avalakki
  3. Add in cardamom powder and 1/2 tsp of ghee. Optionally you can add a big pinch of salt.cardamom and ghee for sihi avalakki
  4. Squeeze and mix everything well.mixing ingredients for sihi avalakki.
  5. Add in thin beaten rice (thelu avalakki).beaten rice for sihi avalakki
  6. Rub and mix it well. Rest it for 10 minutes and serve.making sihi avalakki
