Today learn how to prepare an easy salad from potato with step by step pictures and video. Potato raita or Aloogadde mosaru bajji can be served as a side dish for rice or ricebath. Or you can serve a bowl of potato salad along with lunch or dinner. This salad is prepared using potato, curd and spices. Use of raw asafoetida enhances the taste of potato salad. Prepare this simple and very tasty potato salad or aloo-mosaru-bajji, I am sure you will fall in love with this.

Aloo mosaru bajji or Potato raita

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 potato
  2. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  3. 1 tsp chopped green chili
  4. A big pinch of asafoetida
  5. 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  6. Salt as per your taste
  7. 1 cup curd or yoghurt

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 tsp oil
  2. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 1 red chili (I used majjige or sandige menasu)

Instructions for making Potato raita or Aloo mosaru bajji:

  1. Wash and cut the potatoes into 4 pieces. Cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker by adding sufficient water. You can even cook the peeled potato along with rice.cooking potato for aloo or alugadde mosaru bajji
  2. Once they are cooked, peel and mash them into bits and pieces.mashed potato for aloo or alugadde mosaru bajji
  3. Now add in chopped ginger, chopped green chili and chopped coriander leaves. Adjust the green chili as per your spice level.ginger and green chili for alugadde mosaru bajji
  4. Also add in salt and asafoetida.salt and asafoetida for alugadde mosaru bajji
  5. Add in whisked curd (or buttermilk) and give a quick mix. You can reduce the amount of curd and add some water.curd for alugadde mosaru bajji
  6. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds and red chili. You can use buttermilk chili for better taste. Serve it with hot steaming rice.tempering alugadde mosaru bajji
