Churumuri recipeChurumuri or spicy puffed rice or mangalore style bhel is a popular and most loved street food or chat recipe from the Mangalore-Udupi region of Karnataka. Churumuri is a very tasty and spicy. Not only in Karavali region, this mangalore style churumuri is also in practice across Malenadu region of Karnataka.

Churumuri is a spicy food. But you can adjust the red chilli powder according to your spice level. Also coconut oil is added, which enhances the taste of churumuri. But if you want you can replace it with any other vegetable oil. You can also add a pinch of chat masala if you like the churumuri that way. And most important thing is once you prepare churumuri, serve it immediately.

If you are looking for North Karnataka version of churumuri or bhel recipes then check my girmit recipe, nargis mandakki recipe, sukha girmit recipe. These are other tasty and very popular street food recipes. And you can find more Mangalore style recipes under my Mangalore-Udupi Recipes section.

In my family most of them are health freaks!! And a big "No" for all the street foods. But this churumuri is an exception. Churumuri is generally prepared and sold by road side cart fellows. And is served in the news paper, which is folded in cone shape. So whenever we see a churumuri cart, we will never miss it. Here goes the recipe of churumuri along with a quick video.
