Navaratri or navarathri is the Hindu festival and is an auspicious day to worship Godess Durga or Devi. Navaratri translates to nine nights. During these nine days different forms of Goddesses are worshiped. Worshipping Durga is said to bestow devotes with immense wealth, prosperity and knowledge.

The recipes and pooja (or celebration) varies from region to region. Navaratri or navarathri is celebrated throughout India and is very popular by name "dasara" in Indian state of Karnataka. Dasara is the nadahabba (state festival) of Karnataka.
