Kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosa recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. Rice and black chickpeas are the 2 main ingredients in this protein rice dosa or breakfast recipe. Spices like red chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves, salt and asafoetida are used to make this kadlekalu or kala chana dosa more tasty. Kadlekaalu dose oe can be served with plain coconut chutney or with butter.

Kadale kalu or black chickpeas is a protein rich ingredient. So it is good for growing kids and for those who wants to reduce some extra fat. Not only healthy, this dosa tastes too good. You can prepare this for breakfast or as an evening snacks. The taste of this kala chana dosa is very similar to ambode or masala vada.

Kadalekalu dose recipe

Preparation time: 8 hours
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup dosa rice (or any raw rice)
  2. 1/2 cup kala chana or kadalekalu
  3. 2 - 5 red chillies (as per your spice level)
  4. 2cm length ginger
  5. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  6. Few curry leaves
  7. Some coriander leaves
  8. Big pinch of asafoetida
  9. Ghee or oil for cooking
  10. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making kadalekalu dose:

  1. Take rice and kadlekalu in a container.rice and black chickpeas for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosa
  2. Soak it for 7 - 8 hours.soaking rice and dal for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  3. After soaking, drain the water and transfer the soaked ingredients into a mixie jar. Add in required water.soaked rice and dal for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  4. Add in red chillies, ginger and cumin seeds.red chillies, ginger and cumin seeds for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  5. Grind it into a fine batter and transfer it into a container.batter for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  6. Add in salt as per your taste.salt for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  7. Add in curry leaves, coriander leaves and asafoetida.curry leaves, coriander leaves and hing for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  8. Give a quick mix and prepare a batter having regular dosa batter consistency.batter for kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  9. Now heat the dosa pan. Pour a laddle full of batter and spread it thin in a circular way.making kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  10. Close the lid for 5 - 10 seconds.cooking kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  11. Open the lid and drizzle some ghee.cooked kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  12. Flip and cook on the other side aswell.cooked kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
  13. Fold the dosa and take it out. Serve it with any chutney of your choice or butter. You can have this dosa as it is.cooked kadalekalu dose or kala chana dosaa
