Kucchalakki ganji or boiled rice ganji recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Boiled rice ganji or kanji is a very common food across Udupi -Mangalore region of Karnataka. Ganji is very healthy and most comforting food. Kucchalakki ganji or kusubalakki ganji is a perfect recipe when you are sick, having stomach upset or simply not in a good mood.

In malnad region of Karnataka also ganji is very popular and there the it is prepared using single polished red rice. Boiled rice takes more time to cook. However malnad single polished red rice will get cooked fast like any other rice.

Boiled rice ganji recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 1 hr
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 150ml)

  1. 1 cup Boiled or as required
  2. 4 times water
  3. Ghee as required (to serve)
  4. Salt as per taste (to serve)
  5. Pickle as required (to serve)

Instructions for making boiled rice ganji:

  1. Take rice in a cooker.rice for boiled rice kanji or kucchalakki ganji recipe
  2. Rinse it very well for atleast 3 times. Rinsing at least once with hot water removes oily and sticky starch substance from the rice. However rinsing using hot water is optional.rinsing rice for boiled rice kanji or kucchalakki ganji recipe
  3. Add in 4 times water.water for boiled rice kanji or kucchalakki ganji recipe
  4. Close the lid and make 2 - 3 whistles.cooking rice for boiled rice kanji or kucchalakki ganji recipe
