New tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables

New healthy and tasty breakfast recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This is an instant breakfast recipe prepared using soaked rice and lot of vegetables. You need a nonstick kadai (or pan) or a well seasoned tawa. If the rice is soaked in advance, this recipe can be prepared in very less time. You can also soaked rice with good quality rice flour.

I have used mixed vegetables like onion, carrot, capsicum and tomato in this recipe. You can use any vegetable of your choice but make sure you chop it finely or grate it. Also you can use any leaves of your choice. I have added curry leaves and coriander leaves. You can serve this breakfast with chutney or tomato sauce or as it is without any accompanimments.

I have used a non-stick kadai in this recipe. You can use any other non-stick pan or a well seasoned pan. You can also use paddu (guliyappa) pan.

New breakfast recipe

Preparation time: 5 hours
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 8 no

Ingredients for the dough: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup rice (I used sona masuri)
  2. 1 medium sized potato, boiled and peeled
  3. 1/2 tsp cumin
  4. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  5. 1 tbsp chopped curry leaves
  6. 1 - 2 green chillies finely chopped
  7. 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  8. 1/4 cup grated carrot
  9. 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
  10. 1/4 cup finely chopped tomato
  11. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  12. 2 tbsp curd
  13. 1/2 tsp eno fruit salt (or cooking soda)
  14. 1 tsp salt or as per your taste
  15. 6 - 8 tsp oil

Instructions for making tasty rice breakfast:

  1. Soak the rice for a minimum duration of 4 - 5 hours.rice for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  2. After soaking, drain the water and take the soaked rice in a mixie jar. Add in 1/2 cup water and grind until fine batter.grinding rice for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  3. Next add in boiled potato, 1/2 cup of water and grind it again until soft.spices for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  4. Transfer the batter into a container. Add in salt, cumin seeds, chopped curry leaves, ginger and green chillies. Give a quick mix.salt, cumin, curry leaves, ginger and green chilli for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  5. Add in chopped onion, capsicum, tomato, coriander leaves and grated carrot. Give a quick mix again. vegetables for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  6. Add in curd.curd for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  7. Add in eno fruit salt and give a quick mix. Please note, adding eno or soda makes it soft and fluffy. However it is optional and you can skip it.eno or soda for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  8. Heat a tsp of oil in a tava or pan.pan with oil for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  9. Pour 2 laddle full of batter.batter for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  10. Close the lid and cook under medium flame.cooking new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  11. Drizzle oil on top.oil for new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
  12. Flip and cook on the other side as well. Serve it with chutney or tomato sauce. You can have these as it is without any accompaniment also.new breakfast or new tasty rice breakfast using rice and vegetables
