Chigali recipe explained in this video with step by step pictures and a video. Chigali is also familiar by different names like Tamarind candy, Imli ki candy, jajjida hunise hannu etc., Chigali is very good for digestion and also can be used like a candy.

This is a very healthy snacks or candy recipe. Kids will enjoy this and it is much better than sugary candies. I have used cumin seeds in this recipe, which you can replace it with cumin powder as well.

Chigali recipe

Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 0 min
Serves: 6 no

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/4 cup tamarind
  2. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  3. 1 tsp salt (or as per your taste)
  4. 1 tbsp jaggery
  5. 1/2 - 1 tsp red chilli powder
  6. 1/2 tsp oil

Instructions for making chigali:

  1. To begin with take cumin seeds in a thick bottomed container or bowl. You can also make use of grinding stone. You can replace cumin seeds with cumin powder as well.tempering for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  2. Add in salt. And crush them until coarse powdertempering for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  3. Add in jaggery.green chilli and onion for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  4. Add in red chilli powder.turmeric and asafoetida for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  5. Add in tamarind pieces.tomato for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  6. Start crushing them again.salt and spices for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  7. You can make use of mixer grinder to make the crushing easy.dal for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  8. Add in oil and crush them again. Please note, adding oil is optional.water for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
  9. Make balls of desired size and shape. Pierce it with tooth pick or icecream stickdough for chigali or tamarind candy recipe
