Instant rice paddu or dideer akki guliyappa recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This rice paddu or akki guliyappa is prepared using rice rava or idli rava. Avalakki (poha), rice flour and curd are the other ingredients used to prepare the batter. This instant paddu can be served with plain coconut chutney or any other chutney of your choice.

I have added little eno in this recipe. Which you can replace it with soda. However adding eno or sodad is completely optional.

Instant rice paddu recipe

Preparation time: 14 hours
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 cup idli rava (rice rava or akki thari)
  2. 1/4 cup beaten rice or avalakki (thick or medium)
  3. 1/4 cup curd
  4. 1/4 cup rice flour
  5. Ghee or oil for cooking
  6. Salt as per your taste
  7. 1 onion chopped
  8. 2 - 4 tbsp coriander leaves
  9. 2 tbsp grated coconut
  10. 1 green chilli chopped
  11. 1/2 tsp ginger chopped

Instructions for making instant rice paddu:

  1. Take idli rava or rice rava in a container and rinse.rice, beaten rice and methi seeds for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  2. Soak in boiling water for 10 inutes.rinsed rice and methi seeds for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  3. Soak poha or avalakki also for 10 minutes in noral water.curd for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  4. After soaking drain the exccess water.soaking rice for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  5. Tranfer the soaked idli rava into the mixie jar. Grind it into a semifine paste.soaked rice and dal for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  6. Add in soaked avalakki or poha.batter for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  7. Add in rice flour.fermenting batter for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  8. Add in curd.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  9. Grind everything together for a while and transfer the batter into a container. Add in required water and preare a thick batter.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  10. Add in chopped onion.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  11. Add in choppped coriander leaves, grated coconut, chopped green chilli and ginger.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  12. Add in salt.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  13. Mix everything well. Add in 1/4 tsp eno or soda. Please note, adding eno or soda is optional.salt for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  14. Now heat the guliyappa or paddu pan and put few drops of oil in all the pits. Pour the batter in all the pits.pan for making majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  15. Close the lid for 5 - 10 seconds. Allow it to cook under medium flame.close the lid and cook majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  16. Open the lid and drizzle oil on top. Flip the guliyappas or paddus and cook on the other side as well.drizzle oil for majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe
  17. Take out the paddus. Serve it with coconut chutney. cook majjige paddu or mosaru appa recipe on both sides
