Rava poori or rave poori recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. This is a 100% rave or sooji poori prepared using chiroti rava or fine rava.

Pooris are generally served with potato curry or aloo bhaji and mixed vegetable sagu. But it goes well with any curry, sambar or even you can serve it along with chutney.

Rava poori recipe

Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 cup chiroti rava (fine rava)
  2. 2 tsp oil or ghee
  3. Salt as per your taste
  4. 3/4 cup water
  5. Oil for deep frying

Instructions for making rava poori or puri:

  1. Take rava in a bowl and add in the salt.rava for rava poori recipe
  2. Add in 2 tsp of ghee or oil and give a quick mix.hot oil for rava poori recipe
  3. Now sprinkle the water little by little and mix in the dough. I have used 3/4th cup of water. Do not knead to begin with.preparing poori dough for rava poori recipe
  4. After mixing, knead the dough lightly. You can sprinkle little water if you find it very tight. Cover and rest it for 15 minutes.preparing dough for rava poori recipe
  5. After resting knead the dough again. Make Gooseberry sized balls.preparing poori dough for rava poori recipe
  6. Roll the dough into small thin pooris having the thickness of a chapati.wheat flour and rava for rava poori recipe
  7. Deep fry the in hot oil. Either press the poori gently using the back of the frying spatula or throw the hot oil over the poori using the frying spatula. Within seconds poori will puff up nicely.deep frying the rolled rava poori
  8. Turn the puffed poori and fry on both the sides.frying the pooris
  9. Serve it hot with potato palya or aloo bhaji.frying the pooris
