New chutney recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This is a very tasty chutney prepared using many ingredients like red chilli, urad dal, garlic, onion, curry leaves, tomato, coconut and roasted gram. I have also posted hotel style idli-sambar recipe and simple white coconut chutney, which is also served in some of the hotels.

New tasty chutney recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 2 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 - 3 red chillies or green chillies
  2. 2 tsp urad dal
  3. 3 - 4 cloves of garlic (or big pinch asafoetida)
  4. 1 small sized onion
  5. Few curry leaves
  6. 1 small sized tomato
  7. 2 tbsp grated coconut
  8. 4 tbsp roasted gram (hurigadale or putani)
  9. Salt as per your taste
  10. 1 tsp oil

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  2. 1 red chilli
  3. 2 tsp cooking oil
  4. 4 curry leaves

Instructions for making new tasty chutney:

  1. Heat a tsp oil. Fry red chillies and urad dal until urad dal turns slightly brown.red chilli and urad dal for new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  2. Add in garlic. If you don't like garlic replace it with a big pinch of asafoetida and add it at the end while tempering the chutney.garlic for new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  3. Add in chopped onion. Fry until onions turn soft.onion for new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  4. Add in curry leaves and tomato. Fry until tomatoes turn soft.curry leaves and tomato for new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  5. Lastly add in grated coconut and roasted gram. Fry everything together for a while and switch off the stove.coconut and roasted gram for new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  6. Wait until warm and transfer it into a mixie jar. Add in salt as per your taste. Grind it into a fine paste by adding required water.grinding new variety chutney for idli or dosa
  7. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Seerve it with idli or dosa.tempering new variety chutney for idli or dosa
