It is best served with a cup of tea. Or just before serving, you can top it with chopped onion, tomato and coriander leaves. Preparing these tasty and spicy bhadang churumuri or mandakki recipe is very easy.

The weather is plesant now. So this is the best time to prepare this tasty and easy snacks. I am sure kids will love this as their evening snacks. This khara mandakki or spicy puffed rice is very tasty and crispy. It stays crispy for a fortnight, if stored in an air tight container. Avalakki mixture or snacks recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Serves: 4 cups

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 4 cups mandakki or puffed rice
  2. 2 - 3 tbsp ground nuts or peanuts or shenga
  3. 7 - 8 curry leaves
  4. 5 - 6 cloves of garlic, sliced
  5. 1 tbsp byadgi red chilli powder
  6. Big pinch asafoetida
  7. 2 - 3 tbsp oil
  8. 1/2 tsp salt (or as per your taste)

Ingredients for serving (optional):

  1. 1 onion, chopped finely
  2. 1 tomato, chopped finely
  3. Finely chopped coriander leaves as needed
  4. Little lemon juice (optional; I didn't use)

Instructions for making bhadang churumuri or mandakki recipe:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add in ground nuts or peanuts and fry until it starts crackling.oil and peanuts for bhadang churumuri or mandakki recipe
  2. Add in sliced garlic and curry leaves. Fry until garlic turns slightly brown. Switch off the stove.garlic and curry leaves for bhadang churumuri or mandakki recipe

  4. Give a quick mix.making bhadang churumuri or mandakki recipe
