Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. Eerulli bhaji is a very easy and quick recipe, however it tastes too good with dose or chapati or roti. Eerulli bhaji or gojju is prepared using onions, tomato and a fresh ground masala powder. This is a very simple sidedish or curry.

Eerulli bhaji or gojju is a beginner and bachelor friendly recipe. Also when you don't have any vegetables, and when you are in hurry..this recipe comes out handy. This onion gojju with chapathi is a tasty and healthy combo. Do give a try.

Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 large sized onions
  2. 1 tomato
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. 1/2 tsp urad dal
  5. 5 - 6 curry leaves
  6. Big pinch turmeric powder
  7. Big pinch hing or asafoetida
  8. Salt as per your taste
  9. 2 tbsp cooking oil

Ingredients for grinding: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 2 tbsp roasted gram
  2. 2 - 3 red chillies
  3. 1 tsp coriander seeds
  4. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1 tsp fennel seeds

Instructions for making Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju:

  1. To beginwith, chop the onions and tomatoes.
  2. Take a frying pan and heat the oil. Add in mustard seeds and urad dal.mustard and urad dal for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  3. When the mustard seed splutters add in curry leaves.curry leaves for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  4. Also add in chopped onions. Fry until onions turn soft.onions for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  5. Next add in chopped tomato, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Fry everything together for a while.tomato for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  6. Add a little water.water for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  7. Close the lid and cook until tomatoes turn soft. It will take around 5 minutes.cooking tomato for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  8. In that time let us prepare the masala powder. Grind roasted gram, red chilli, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and fennel seeds into a fine powder.spices for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  9. Add it into the cooked onion and tomato. Give a good mix.masala powder for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
  10. Add in water as needed.water for Eerulli bhaji or onion gojju recipe
