Ottu shavige or akki shavige recipe

Ragi ottu shavige or finger millet idiyappam recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. Ragi ottu shavige or nachni recipe is prepared using finger millet flour, salt, little oil and water. This is a very tasty and healthy recipe using ragi flour and it can be served with any curry of your choice.

You can also find the regular akki ottu shavige or rice noodles recipe here. Here in this rava shavige recipe, I have used medium rava or upma rava. But if you have fine rava, I would suggest you to use fine rava only. To begin with the rava is cooked, kneaded, dumplings are prepared, pressed using the noodles mould and then steamed for few minutes. This rava shavige is a quick breakfast recipe and you can prepare it in just 20 minutes. Especially when you are bored with uppittu (or upma), this ragi shavige or idiyappam recipe is an ideal choice.

This ragi shavige or idiyappam can be served with any curry of your choice. It can also be served with chitranna bajji (a sweet chutney) or coconut chutney or can be tempered like chitranna.

I have posted few steamed recipes like kayi kadubu, kara kadubu, seke undlaka, unde kadubu and eeradye (arishina ele gatti). Do check them as well.

We have posted many Karnataka style breakfast recipes. Do read, try and enjoy the drool worthy food!!
