Aloo palak recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Aloo palak is prepared using boiled potatoes, palak leaves, onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and few other spices. Aloo palak curry is a very tasty and heathy recipe and it is one of the best side dish for chapati or roti.

Aloo palak recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 4

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 small bunch of palak leaves
  2. 2 medium sized potatoes
  3. 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  4. 1 tsp lemon juice
  5. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  6. 1 green chilli
  7. 1 large onion
  8. 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger and garlic
  9. 2 tomatoes
  10. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1 tsp red chili powder
  12. 1 tsp coriander powder
  13. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  14. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  15. 1 tbsp kasuri methi (optional)
  16. Salt as per your taste
  17. 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions for aloo palak:

  1. Boil and peel the potatoes.potatoes for aloo palak recipe

  3. Boil the water in a container. Blanch the cleaned palak leaves for 2 minutes.blanching palak leaves for aloo palak recipe
  4. Immerse the blanched palak leaves in cold water.blanched palak leaves for aloo palak recipe
  5. And then transfer it into the mixie jar. Add in coriander leaves and a tsp of lemon juice. Grind it into a fine paste by adding required water. Set it aside.making palak puree for aloo palak recipe
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Add cumin seeds and finely chopped green chilli.cumin seeds and green chilli for aloo palak recipe
  7. Follwerd by add in chopped onion, ginger and garlic. Fry until onions turn soft.onion, ginger and garlic for aloo palak recipe
  8. Add in finely chopped tomatoes, salt and turmeric. Fry until tomatoes are soft.tomatoes for aloo palak recipe
  9. Add the spice powders like chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and cumin powder. Fry them for a minute.spice powders for aloo palak recipe
  10. Add in ground palak puree and little water. Give it a quick mix and boil it for a minute.palak puree for aloo palak recipe
