Sabbakki rotti or sabudana roti recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. Sabbakki rotti or sago roti is very easy to prepare and is very tasty. Sabakki rotti is prepared using sago pearls, rice flour, onion, potato, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies and salt. This is an instant and healthy breakfast recipe.

This is an instant and healthy breakfast recipe using sabudana or sabakki or seeme akki or saggubiyyam or javvarisi. You ca serve this sabudana roti or thalipeeth with chutney. You can even have it without any accompaniment. The spices and the potato gives a lipsmacking taste to the rotti.

Sabbakki rotti recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 1

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup sabbakki or sabudana or sago
  2. 1/4 cup rice flour
  3. 1 potato cooked and peeled
  4. 1 finely chopped onion
  5. 2 green chillies chopped
  6. 2 tbsp finely chopped curry leaves
  7. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 2 tbsp shenga or roasted peanuts
  9. Salt as per your taste
  10. Cooking oil for making rotti
  11. Thick plastic sheet or banana leaf

Instructions for making sabbakki rotti:

  1. Rinse the sabbakki or sabudana for 2 hours. You should be able to crush it using 2 fingers.soaking sabudana for sabbakki rotti or sabudana roti recipe

  9. Apply oil to plastic sheet (or banana leaf) and fingers. Take a large lemon sized dough and start patting the roti. Pat it into a thin roti.patting sabbakki rotti or sabudana roti recipe
