Togari bele dose or toor dal dosa is is very tasty and healthy breakfast recipe using rice, toor dal, coconut, red chilli, cumin seeds and black pepper. Thapale dose or thappale dose is a traditional dosa recipe. Thapale dose is an instant dose and can be served with coconut chutney or can be eaten as it is.

This toor dal dosa is a very tasty and healthy breakfast recipe. No need to ferment the batter. However you can ferment it for few hours also if you like it that way. Just soak the rice, dal and spices for few hours, grind it with coconut and then you are ready with the batter. You can prepare this for breakfast or as an evening snacks.

Toor dal is rich in protein and it is good for everyone. This is a traditional recipe with all necessary ingredients to avoid any digestion issues. So I would suggest you to try this recipe atleast once.

Thapale dose recipe

Preparation time: 3 - 4 hours
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1/2 cup toor dal
  2. 1/2 cup rice
  3. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  4. 2 - 4 red chillies
  5. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  6. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Ghee or oil for cooking
  8. Salt as per your taste

Instructions for making thapale dose:

  1. Take rice and dal in a container.soaking rice and dal for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  2. Add in spices like cumin seeds, black pepper and red chillies. Rinse everything well.spices for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  3. Soak them for 3 - 4 hours.Soaking ingredients for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  4. After soaking take the soaked ingredients in a mixie jar. Add in grated coconut.coconut for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  5. Grind it into a fine batter by adding required water. TRansfer the batter into a container.batter for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  6. Add in salt as per your taste and give a quick mix. The batter shall be little thinner than regular urad dosa batter.salt for thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  7. Now heat the dosa pan. Pour a laddle full of batter and spread it thin in a circular way.making thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
  8. Close the lid for 5 - 10 seconds. Allow it to cook under medium flame.cooking thapale or togari bele dose or toor dal dosa recipe
