Doddapatre tambuli or tambli recipe explained with step by step pictures and a video. This is a very tasty and healthy thambuli or thambli prepared using doddapathre or ajwain leaves. Doddapathre thambuli or doddapatre tambli prepared using curd, coconut and some minimal spices. Doddapatre tambli is a very simple recipe and tastes very good with rice, dosa or idli.

Doddapatre tambuli or tambli recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 15-20 doddapatre leaves or Ajwain leaves
  2. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  3. 1/2 tsp pepper corns
  4. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  5. 1/2 cup curd or yoghurt
  6. 1 tsp cooking oil or ghee
  7. Water as required
  8. Salt as per your taste.

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1/2 red chili
  2. 1 tsp cooking oil or ghee
  3. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds

Instructions for making doddapatre thambuli or tambli:

  1. Wash and cut doddapatre leaves.
  2. Heat a frying pan. Add in ghee, cumin seeds and pepper corns.spices for doddapatre thambli or tambli
  3. When the cumin seed splutters, add in chopped doddapathre leaves.chopped leaves for doddapatre thambli or tambli
  4. Fry the leaves until soft.fry doddapathre leaves for doddapatre thambli or tambli
  5. Add in grated coconut and switch off the stove. Wait until warm.coconut for doddapatre thambli or tambli
  6. Once it is warm, grind the fried leaves, spices and coconut in a mixer grinder and transfer it to a bowl. Add in curd, salt and water.grind doddapathre leaves for thambli or tambli
  7. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds and red chili. Serve it with rice, dosa or idli. tempering for doddapatre thambli or tambli
