Beetroot halwa recipe

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 20 min
Serves: 2

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 big beetroot or 2 cup grated beetroot
  2. 1 cup milk
  3. 1/4 cup sugar (adjust as per your taste)
  4. 2 tbsp ghee
  5. 1 tbsp chopped cashews (or badam)
  6. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Instructions for making beetroot halwa:

  1. Peel, wash and grate the beetroot.grating beetroot for beetroot halwa
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of thick ghee in a deep frying pan.ghee for beetroot halwa
  3. Add in grated beetroot and start frying under medium flame. Fry for few minutes until beetroot is soft.grated beetroot for beetroot halwa
  4. Next add in a cup of milk.milk for beetroot halwa
  5. Allow it to boil on medium high flame by stirring it occasionally.boil carrot and milk for beetroot halwa
  6. Allow it to boil until milk is reduced. This step will take around 10 minutes.cooking beetroot for beetroot halwa
  7. When the milk is reduced add in sugar and continue cooking by stirring it occasionally.sugar for beetroot halwa
  8. When the halwa is almost dry, add in chopped nuts (cashew or badam) and one more table spoon of ghee. Start stirring continuously by scraping the sides.cashews for beetroot halwa
  9. Reduce the flame when the excess water content is dried. Beetroot halwa is almost ready.making beetroot halwa
  10. At the end add in cardamom powder. Mix it well and switch off the stove. Serve it hot or cold.cardamom powder for beetroot halwa
