onion chutney recipe

Onion chutney recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. This onion chutney is served with masala dosa or plain dosa. Onion chutney is prepared using red chili, gram dal, urad dal, onion and tomato. This is a no-coconut chutney and tastes very good.

If you want to prepare a spicy and tasty chutney for dose or idli, that too without coconut, then this is the perfect recipe you are looking for. This onion chutney tastes too good and very easy to prepare. I have posted one more tasty onion-tomato chutney on this website, that is also a no-coconut red chutney and can be served along with dose or idli.

I love onion and you can find 3 more tasty onion recipes on this website like onion dose, onion pakoda and potato onion sambar recipes.

I have used one tomato in this onion chutney. But you can replace tomato with tamarind juice, if you like the onion chutney that way. Also you can use little coconut while grinding, if you are a fan of coconut. I keep preparing this onion chutney very often. This is a versatile chutney and goes well with dosa, rice and chapathi. Actually in masala dosa there are 2 types of red chutney used. One is applied while making dosa and other red chutney is served along with the dosa. So this is the red chutney, which is served along with the dosa.

At my family, we prepare 2 types of onion chutneys. One is this no-coconut onion chutney and the other one is with coconut. The later makes use of rw onion, but tastes too good with rice. I will post the recipe soon.
