Garlic coconut chutney or bellulli chutney recipe explained with step by step pictures and video. In this chutney fried garlic, fried red chili and fresh grated coconut are used. This garlic chutney very tasty chutney recipe goes very well with either dosa or idli.

Garlic coconut chutney

Preparation time: 5 min
Cooking time: 10 min
Serves: 3

Ingredients: (measuring cup used = 240ml)

  1. 1 medium sized garlic
  2. 2-4 red chili
  3. 1 cup grated coconut
  4. 1 marble sized tamarind
  5. 1 tsp cooking oil
  6. Salt as per your taste.

Ingredients for tempering:

  1. 1 red chili
  2. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 4 curry leaves
  4. 1 tsp cooking oil

Instructions for making garlic chutney:

  1. Peel the garlic and chop them into pieces.chopped garlic for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  2. Next heat a frying pan, add in a tsp oil and red chilis.frying red chili for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  3. Once chilis are fried, add in chopped garlic and start frying them under medium flame.frying garlic for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  4. Fry garlic pieces till they are slightly brown. Do not over fry them.fried garlic for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  5. Take a mixie jar and add in a cup of grated coconut.coconut for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  6. Followed by add in salt and tamarind.salt and tamarind for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  7. Also add in fried garlic and red chili.fried red chili and garlic for garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  8. Add in required water and grind it into a smooth paste. Transfer it into a bowl.grinding garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
  9. Temper it with oil, red chili, mustard seeds and curry leaves. Serve it with dosa or idli or rice.tempering garlic chutney or bellulli chutney
